Watch Envy
Published by michael August 3rd, 2004 in techFor some reason, completely unclear to me, I have a fairly recent obsession for watches. I have restrained myself from buying one, since of course, I am practically broke. Nonetheless, Boing Boing posted 2 links to watches today, both of which I think are super-slick. There are 2 versions of the Earth watch (the one called wn-1 is for the northern hemisphere & it rotates counter-clockwise as does the Earth as seen from above), and if my understanding is correct, actually has 2 adjustments. One adjusts your location on the map with a dot, and the other positions the dot correctly relative to the time. I’m in awe.
Gaze at the Northern Hemisphere. Experience Earth Time.
wn-1 indicates time with an earth-dial
(a dome-shaped 24-hour hand),
a position indicator, and a minute hand. The hours are read counterclockwise one revolution per 24 hours, the minutes clockwise; there is no second hand.
Experience the leisurely flow of planetary time.
