keeping perspective
Published by michael August 25th, 2004 in politicsI’m having a hard time feeling inspired by Kerry. I would, of course vote for nearly anyone to oust the regime that John Pilger at Znet reminds us is, “…both dangerous and universally loathed,” but, he comments, “that is not the point.” In his article, “Bush Versus Kerry: The Fake Debate he makes many valid points which remind me how much of a ruse this whole process is. It’s a good perspective to keep in mind, considering that most true progressives are likely going to be disappointed with Kerry in office. At least for a brief time, a wider base is united.
I follow the daily drama on the campaign race, with a grain of salt; they have to put on the show I guess. It’s nice to have people like Amy Sullivan (filling in for Kevin Drum) who are on top of it all enough to notice the two-facedness of Ginsberg, the Republican lawyer with ties to both Bush/Cheney and the “Swift Boats” group when he criticized democrats with multiple interests. She caught this this morning even before he resigned.
Could you imagine what we would be capable of if our leaders’ energy wasn’t focused on conceit and deception? Oh, the possibilities…
