Round Two: Facts get even more slippery
Published by michael October 9th, 2004 in politicsSo both the Bush and Kerry have been called on their distortions and lies. Factcheck.org (not .com) calls them on it: “Bush forgets he owns a tree-growing company. Kerry again inflates job-loss figures.”
Kevin Drum called Bush one very critical lie Bush repeated last night, that
Non-homeland, non-defense discretionary spending was raising at 15 percent a year when I got into office. And today it’s less than 1 percent, because we’re working together to try to bring this deficit under control.
It turns out, according to the Congressional Budget Office, it’s 8.2% Mr. President, and that’s the worst it’s been under the last six presidents! Go read Kevin Drum’s entry for a breakdown, and a nice graph.
But who’s counting lies? Which are the more serious ones? Follow some of these links, it seems pretty clear to me.
