Update/clarification: I admire Saheli as she salutes the Marines for their honorable allegiance to the goverment, but I cannot myself find that same respect in their allegiance to a country so far from righteousness, so far from honor. I honor them as human beings, but their violent assault that is based on geo-political expansion and fallacious reason is a betrayal of humanity.
Apparently the marines stormed a mosque, killing 10 fighters (whom we have branded “insurgents” to villify them and uplift our cause), and wounding 5. Kevin Sites also reported that they were left there wounded, and implies that they were forgotten or neglected for some time. Later on, another marine […]
Marines to Aid Workers: Stay Out of Fallujah
0 Comments Published by michael November 14th, 2004 in warI am safe today, and I give thanks. Violence against the people in Fallujah does nothing to make me (or anyone) safer. Even if it did, violence is the weapon of the weak. I am following this war battle by battle now, and I am hoping daily for it to end. […]
Kevin Sites’ Blog last Wednesday talks about Fallujah
“Everything to the west is weapons free,” radios Staff Sgt. Sam Mortimer of Seattle, Washington. Weapons Free means the marines can shoot whatever they see — it’s all considered hostile.
I talked to my brother again - the one in the navy and he talked about defending their ship […]
High School: Don’t Dare Dissent
0 Comments Published by michael November 12th, 2004 in politics, lawYou would think the Secret Service would be busy handling more serious business. Boing Boing reports today that they’re hassling kids for choosing to play the classic Dylan tune “Masters of War.”
Parents and students say they are outraged and offended by a proposed band name and song scheduled for a high school talent show […]
The lettering on the homepage of Coalition of Women for Peace puts into print the ideology of the group. Arabic letters alongside Hebrew letters translated into English below.
One group, Women in Black, gathers in prominent public places wearing all black and carrying signs to protest the occupation. Another, Neled: Women for Coexistence, puts together regular […]
What can I do? My tax dollars are funding the destruction of the Iraqi people. I didn’t vote for this shmuck and unfortunately, Kerry most likely wouldn’t have followed a radically different course of action in Iraq (although he would have been FAR better on nearly every other issue).
Now come reports […]
From Dahr Jamail at Znet comes this perspective on Fallujah: “Strong anti-government reactions have set in already as reports come in from Fallujah of bombed hospitals, high civilians casualties and denial of access to medical care. The political fallout could fall far beyond Iraq.” I am interested in discovering an international index of global […]
Tuesday Mozilla.org released the first full version of Firefox 1.0 on Tuesday! I’ve been using Mozilla browsers intermittently for years, but since last summer I switched over to Firefox exclusively, loading Microsoft’s IE only once in a very rare while with a site that isn’t compliant with current universal web standads. […]
I just finished watching “Hijacking Catastrophe.” It is an extremely well made documentary on the deliberate manipulation of public opinion through the skillful delivery of repetitive dogma and public relations. It places the current assault on Iraq clearly in the context of radical conservative expansionist strategy. Unlike some more sensationalized antiwar […]
