Hang in There

I saw this bumper sticker in the supermarket parking lot last week, and it’s ringing truer and true as our current events become stranger every day. From the US today blocking a deal on fighting AIDS to the president pretending he could ever pass an anti-same-sex marriage ammendment to the Constitution, to the improbability of the depth of responsibility for the Haditha massacre being truly uncovered… to the possibility of war against Iran…and the proposal to implant RFID chips into immigrant workers!… I’m perplexed that all this news is real. How can we so consistently choose to do the wrong thing? Hang in there, I keep telling myself, not to disengage from trying to change things actively, but to resist craziness as a coping mechanism in the accelerating downward spiral that we’ve been in since January 20th, 2001.
