					<description>As much as I must applaud the willingness of Germans to take responsibility for the sordid history of their government and culture, I believe it has blinded the culture to current political realities.  While some may channel their sense of responsibility into anti-war activism, many others have been so entranced with the &quot;never again&quot; mantra that they've failed to recognize other genocides, as if &quot;never again&quot; were a statement of fact and not a call to action.  In particular, I think many Germans are so sensitive to the charge of anti-semitism--and Zionists so liberal in their application of the term--that there is precious little coming out of that country that is critical of the policies of the Israeli state, or, on the other hand, that doesn't use &quot;Palestinian solidarity&quot; or criticism of Germany's holocaust industry as a cover for fascist politics.  Thankfully, there are some exceptions:
